Data Visualisation in Python

Data is available in all sorts and formats nowadays, and it is crucial to extract useful insights from the data in such a way that it is clear to the intended audience.

Data can be interpreted much easier when converted to a visual format. There are numerous ways in which data can be visualised. If done incorrectly, it can do the opposite of what it was originally intended for, that is, it can confuse people more than it would make their life easier. So, it is important to know when to use which type of visualisation for your data.

This course provides some practical and efficient ways of visualising your data, and when to use each type of visualisation technique.

Please note: Bookings will close 3 working days before the course start date or when the course has reached its maximum capacity.

Visualisations is becoming increasingly important in industry nowadays. They help transmit information and insights quicker and more efficiently; save time and money; and increase productivity as well.

  1. But how do you make sure that you generating visualisations that will achieve that?
  2. And how do you generate them?
  3. How do you optimise your visualisations to make the most out of them?

Generating Effective DataViz aims to answer all these questions. The course will provide you with a good base about data visualisations in general. It will show you how to generate visualisations using multiple Python packages such as matplotlib, seaborn, and Plotly Express. And then it will show you how to pick and visualise the most effective metrics, and how to interpret them, so that efficiency and productivity of your business is increased. The last session of the course will go over How to build a simple dashboard whereby at the end of the course, the user will be able to make one with different types of visualisations on it. This helps in keeping track of all the important metrics in one place.

Topics Covered:

Data:

What do you need to know about the different data types?

Data Manipulation:

How do you manipulate data to make it more consistent or to transform it to into your desired format?

Visualisation Types:

What are the different visualisation types that can be used for the different data types? And which one might be the most appropriate ones?

Improving your visualisation:

How to use additional features of the packages to improve the quality of your visualisations to make them more effective?

The attendees will develop a solid understanding of the different data types and which visualisation(s) is most appropriate for each data type. It will also show them how to manipulate or clean data whenever needed to make it more consistent. They will get hands on practice on how to generate effective and informative visualisations and how to interpret them. They will get hands on practice on how to build a dashboard with different visualisation types onto it.

Note: These sessions will be tutorial based, and the attendees can practice over the duration of the course.

The attendee can be a professional from any background who is interested in the visualisation of data. For example, they can be from a managerial background, marketing background, or even HR. If you work with data in one way or the other, and are interested in visualising them, this course is for you. Some basic Python knowledge will be beneficial.
